Naming of the Body parts

Hi viewers, welcome to my blog, this is my last post and it is completely different from the previous posts. Previously I had made extensive use of powerpoint to design lessons. This time I have used a concept mapping tool called coogle it. It is online software for creating mind maps and flowcharts. It is a free browser-based application that enables an individual or a team to take notes, brainstorm, plan or document an idea or any other creative undertaking.

How was the material created?

The material was created based on the names of the body parts for class PP students. I have used branches to allocate each name of the body parts such as hands, head, shoulder and legs etc. Under each name of the body parts, a short description and picture has been added. I have made use of text and image features to highlight specific parts. And finally I clubbed all the points to make a complete concept map.

When to use?

This concept map can be used during all the phases of teaching. For example, we can use this concept map to directly tell a story or use it at the end to summarize but I have chosen to use it during each element of the story. By doing so the children can make note of what they have learnt and their suspense of the story will not be spoiled.

Relevancy

Concept mapping is an important strategy to find the crux of any concept taught. So in my case, coogle it is relevant for teaching the topic naming of body parts as it has got various names of body parts which can be easily taught using the branching pattern of coogle it.

Activity instruction:

After having completed the concept mapping on coogle it, students will be divided into four groups and will be asked to collaboratively rewrite the story snow white and the seven dwarfs by looking at the concept map. After that one member from each group will share their stories.

Video lesson on recognizing and identifying the names of the material from which an object is made.

Hi, dear viewers I hope you all have enjoyed my previous post. In this post you will get to see the lesson in a completely new package. It is being presented with features like screen recording, voice narration and other features waiting for you to explore. I hope you will enjoy this video lesson and you can always send me your queries, feedback and suggestions. I will be grateful if you could help me improve my content with your kind suggestions.

Topic: recognize and identify the names of the material from which an object is made.

Class: PP

Subject:  Mathematics

I chose class PP Mathematics on topic to recognize and identify the names of the material from which an object is made. This video lesson is made using camtasia studio, this lesson provides the young learners an opportunity to thoroughly comprehend the lesson on the topic. The main objectives for the lesson are that each child should be able to recognize and identify the name of the material from which an object is made by the end of the lesson.

How did I create this material?

First, I chose a topic from class PP Mathematics, after that I planned on making the lesson effective and interactive. I had to tailor my topic to make it easier and fun for teaching the content. I found that the name of the material from which an object is made relevant and easy to teach as the students get to understand and engage in identifying and recognizing objects that they see around. I wanted to add various features of camtasia studio to make my video lesson as interactive and interesting as possible. I downloaded pictures and notes required for my topic. Using the power point tool I made slides to deliver the lesson. I made use of different features like animations, transitions, shapes, colors and lines from the powerpoint. The next step was recording my video by using the screen recording feature of camtasia studio. It was not easy for me to carry out the video tutorial fluently, as I got stuck time and again while delivering the lesson. Finally when I finished recording my screen, I had to edit and make all the necessary adjustments to make my video lesson as perfect as possible.

Where should the material be used?

This video lesson can be used throughout the stages of the lesson delivery. The video can be used to provide information during lesson development for teaching the concepts to students because with the help of pictures and voice narration everything is explained clearly. It can be used during the explanation and conduction of the activity also because it will guide students to correctly follow the instruction and carry out the activity successfully.

The reason for choosing powerpoint slides with camtasia studio.

I have chosen to use powerpoint with camtasia studio because we know that powerpoint is a powerful tool while presenting any information. However, while presenting concepts online it would be difficult for presenting without the screen recording feature provided by camtasia studio. Moreover, camtasia studio is a free application which provides us with different features like premade animation, recorder and voice narration.

Activity instruction:

For carrying out the activity, I have provided three questions which need to be carried out individually. Each student is expected to clarify any doubt regarding the activity by dropping their queries in my personal wechat.

Connection in Parallel

Description

Hello viewers welcome to my blog, this is my third post and it is based on the topic connection in parallel for class six levels. This power point presentation is aimed at imparting the concepts of mechanism of how parallel circuit works and is created. This time I am certain that this post will keep you entertained and infirmed as I have put a lot more effort compared to the previous post. I have provided links of videos, files, and used simulations making the lesson more interesting and interactive.

Class: VI

Relevancy and effectiveness:

The entire material used in the presentation, which comprises of produced videos and simulations are everyday material that students encounter and make use of. Moreover the simulations that I have used are simple and easy to understand for their level. The videos and animations used will play the curiosity triggering roles as children are fond of cartoon images and characters which are simple and colorful. The entire effort is made making learning fun so that the students will remember and retain the information for longer duration, hence proving effective. When will it be used? Throughout the teaching learning session, I will use this material to make the teaching learning fun, enjoyable, interactive and effective. Since I have used simple elements to construct and convey the concept, the follow through of the lesson transitions will be smooth throughout the teaching learning process.

How has the material being created?

I have designed the slides in such a way that the concept is introduced in ascending order of concepts on which the concepts will gradually get complete only at the end. Some questions will be asked basically to confirm if they have the key concepts and the terminologies like circuit, connections, bulbs, wire and switch. Once the background knowledge is being verified, the later slides will have definitions, pictures of the circuit, supporting simulations, animations and videos to ensure that the concepts is clearly understood. Finally, the last slides will have the activity of creating complete parallel circuit in order to verify whether they have actually fulfilled the lesson objectives or not.

Activity: Parallel Circuit Table

Instruction:
The students will be divided into 4 groups. Distribute the parallel circuit table to students and invite them to construct two parallel circuits- one with two light bulbs and another with three light bulbs. Remind them that in a parallel circuit, there are multiples pathways for electricity to flow. Again, they should keep the battery source the same. Have them draw the diagrams in their table and rank the brightness.

Growing and Shrinking Pattern

Description.

Hello! Welcome to my blog, it has been almost a month since my last post; I hope you liked my previous presentation, which was simple though. Today I bring you all some exciting integration of power point with some other features. Do visit this post to discover and provide me some constructive feedbacks. I hope you all will enjoy my update. My presentation is solely designed using the power point and only some of its features, although there are numerous features and possibilities that one could integrate in conveying ones lesson, I have only used some key features like hyperlinks, animations and shape shifts to make my lesson as effective and interesting as possible.

Topic: Growing and Shrinking Pattern.

Class level: III

What is this material about?

My presentation first begins with the introduction of the mathematical topic growing and shrinking pattern of class III. I have used pictures and animations to illustrate and explain the concepts. In order to make the concept clearer I have provided real life examples so that the students can easily connect with their daily experiences. Later in the following slides, I have designed quiz as an activity cum assessing tool to test the understanding and performance level of the students. This quiz is also fun based and is indirectly aimed to engage students individually in an interactive manner. I have extensively made use of hyperlinks to validate the answer selected by the students and provided necessary reinforcement and feedbacks to keep the students on the learning track.

How I have created the material?

Firstly, I have made use of certain shapes like rectangle, triangle, circle to write the names of the topics. later I have combined those shapes to create different forms for providing concepts.

I have used textbox to highlight the definitions and examples of growing and shrinking pattern.

I have also made use of hyperlinks to create quiz, and made optimum use of different tints and shades to create color contrast and provide necessary relevancy.

Relevancy of the topic to the class level?

The topic growing and shrinking is related to the class III level because the shapes and examples used are age appropriate as most of them are everyday experiential objects and materials. In fact our lives itself is connected with this concept of growing and shrinking.

Where am I going to use my activity?

I will use my material in two phases, first, I will use it for introducing the lesson by providing definition and examples. following that, I will use it to develop the concept by explaining the concept using the power-point slides. finally, I will consolidate the concept by providing quiz game.

Activity and the instruction:

The activity is designed with sole focus to give a real-time discussion and engagement platform for checking the understanding of the students. since students enjoy games and activities, this game also targets and focus on their interest.

Activity Name: Quiz Game

Activity instruction:

1. Once the core concepts have been clearly explained and demonstrated the teacher will divide the class into 4 groups.

2. Instructions on the provision of the points will be clearly given.

3. The instructions will be cross-checked to find any misunderstanding of the instructions.

4. Lucky dip will be done for picking the first group to answer.

5. The group who can answer most questions correctly will be declared as the winner.

6. Necessary feedbacks and corrections will be made if errors are to be found.

Similar and Congruent Triangles.

Description

What is the material about?

Hi! Viewers I hope you are in good health and sound mind. This is my first post in which I have designed content based material for grade level three on the subject mathematics. It is based on the topic ‘similar and congruent Triangles’. The main reason behind choosing this topic is because of the feasibility and comfort of using ICT features to create teaching learning materials. The features provided by ICT are easy to utilize for making learning enjoyable and in depth. The primary purpose is to give a clear picture of what Similar and congruent triangles are using pictures and possible animations. The learners of this 21st century are no longer interested in the traditional style of teaching and learning. The current generation demands maximum use of fancy gadgets and technology in everyday lives, ICT has become an integral part of everyday lives of the current learners. The main reason behind teaching concept in this ICT platform is to engage students meaningfully through the use of ICT tools and features to provide a strong foundation and a passion for learning.

Class: III

Relevancy of topic to class level:

This topic is relevant to the class III level because they have seen, felt and experienced many congruent and similar shapes in their day to day to day lives. Relating this concept of congruency and similarity, I can easily teach them by drawing connections with their daily experiential objects and objects. for example, similar triangle shapes can be related to the shape of the roofs and congruent triangles can shown with the help of paper folding, rulers, sand drawing et.

How is this material created?

Now to talk about my presentation I have created a content based material using power point as an ICT tool for teaching ‘similar and congruent triangle’. Features such as inserting images, colors, shapes and animations made my task easy, fast and effective for teaching and learning purpose as images and animation provide visual cues for easy deciphering. On the other hand without having to manually draw pictures it saves resources and time. In my power point presentation, I have used the pictures of different objects, shapes and animations to convey the content matter in an efficient way since it requires less labor, time, and resources, without having to compromise the quality of the teaching learning material. Since children enjoy pictures and animations at a young age I have also included video in my power point presentation so that they are entertained as well as equally informed about the content matter. My first 4 slides contain the definition, concepts and examples of congruent and similar triangle followed by an activity divided among last two slides.

Activity and Instruction:

Activity- Identifying Congruent and Similar Shapes

I have designed an activity to provide hands on experience to the learners, integrating Microsoft word within power point, indirectly demonstrating the interlinked features of ICT. The activity is to be carried out individually, they are supposed to identify and categorize the given shapes and pictures into similar and congruent triangles. I have given them certain period of  time to complete the task.

                                                                 Introduction

Hello! readers welcome to my blog. I am Sonam Tshewang currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Paro college of education. I am from Mongar and I stay at Thimphu with uncle and auntie. To talk about my school life I completed my primary and middle education from Thimphu and studied high school at Sherubling located in Trongsa. My guardian showered me with love, care and support. So, I finished my early years of schooling without any hardships and deprivation.

Now to tell you about my hobbies, my favorite hobbies are playing basketball, football, playing volleyball, drawing and listening to music. Firstly, I feel great sense of enjoyment from playing football because football gives me lots of fun and happiness. Football not only releases a lot of stress which I get from works but also keeps me physically fit. Now the second of my favorite is drawing. Drawing let me feel at peace with myself and quite relaxed.

I like to draw a lot of different drawings and I spend most of my spare time drawing while also listening to music at the same time. I like to create my pictures in both pencil and color. When I work with color the number of colors let me feel that the pictures I draw are special. Thirdly, one of my favorite which I enjoy very much is volleyball. I started playing volleyball when I was at high school. I always stayed after school to play volleyball with my group friends.

Fourth, music is also a big part of my life. I listen to many different types of music. For example, I love classical, pop and rock songs. Whenever I do my work, I always put my earphones on and listen to the music. I have 200 plus songs. I love listening to music because I get to experience with different kinds of emotion. Through music I believe that we can learn a lot about people based on the kind of music they listen to.

Finally, I also enjoy playing basketball. I have a basketball idol called Professor. He inspired me with his fabulous skills when I look back over the years when I followed his career. I watched many of the matches in which he played. Not only did he have great technical basketball skills but he also showed a great cooperative spirit which worked very well with his teammates, making a great and strong team which was very difficult to be beaten.

 Thank You.
